Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, occupies a valley in the country’s western interior. In addition to being the government seat, the city is known for its Buddhist sites. Places to visit- Dochula Pass is popular location among tourists as it offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of Himalayan mountain range. Great Buddha Dordenma is a gigantic Shakyamuni Buddha statue is made of bronze and is gilded in gold. 125,000 smaller Buddha statues have been placed within the Buddha Dordenma statue, 100,000 8-inch-tall and 25,000 12-inch-tall statues respectively. Each of these thousands of Buddhas have also been cast in bronze and gilded. The throne that the Buddha Dordenma sits upon is a large meditation hall. Paro is a town and seat of Paro District in the Paro Valley of Bhutan. The beautiful valley of Paro encapsulates within itself a rich culture, scenic beauty and hundreds of myths and legends. It is home to many of Bhutan's oldest temples and monasteries, National Museum and country's only airport. Places of interest in and around Paro – Rinpung Dzong - Built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan. Ta Dzong, Drukgyel Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang, Jangsarbu Lhakhang, Taktshang Lhakhang (Tiger's Nest), Druk Choeding etc. Excursions around Paro Valley - Haa valley, Kila Goemba, Chelela pass, Dzongdrakha Goemba etc.
